Lesson 1 of our Advaita Vedanta Nondualism Course starts with the Bhagavad Gita story between inner-war of good/evil or spirit/matter within every human being (Pāṇḍavas/Kauravas).
When Arjuna loses his resolve – unable to stand up to his duty – Kṛṣṇa begins teaching him (YOU) brahmavidyā (Self-Knowledge).
Program is taught in context of non-dual Advaita Vedānta (Self-Knowledge or brahmavidyā) teachings. It uses various Upaniṣad, Bhagavad Gītā and Brahma Sutra texts. Currently running 1 year course. Anyone sincere is welcome to attend.
Teacher strictly adheres to lineage: Chinmaya Mission, James Swartz and Swami Dayananda (Arsha Vidya). Supported by sages like Ramana Maharshi and Nisargadatta.
ABOUT Bhagavad Gītā:
The Bhagavad Gītā is perhaps the most important text in Vedānta. It’s one of the three main source texts: the Upaniṣads and Brahma Sūtras being the other two.
It draws its main ideas from the Upaniṣads. It encompasses; Karma Yoga, Dharma Yoga and Jñāna Yoga. It is a dharma-śāstra and mokṣa-śāstra.
Śāstra means a weapon, and it means ‘scripture.’ Why is the scripture a weapon? Because it protects you (Jīva) from great suffering.
The Gītā covers TWO topics that are the subject matter of the Vedic texts; Karma Yoga and Knowledge (Jñāna) Yoga – in other words; Experience (dharma-śāstra) and Knowledge (mokṣa-śāstra).
Bhagavad Gītā, deals with the relationship between ACTION and KNOWLEDGE, so it’s got everything. Thus remains an eternal text.
